The Face Shop: Angel Skin Foundation and Angel Skin Make-up Base Review

I must admit that this is a post looooong overdue. I've moved out from the flat where I originally took these photos and I am moving out again! Hahaha. The good side of it is that I have used the products for approximately 6 months, more than enough to give you a detailed review.

The Angel Skin Make-up Base comes in a green 30ml tube with a screw cap

The Angel Skin Foundation also comes in the same packaging but in pink.

The primer has a watery consistency with a green hue which helps tone down redness as a green concealer would. Used by itself, it will leave your face looking white and pale.

The foundation also has the same watery consistency with bit of a yellow undertone. Perfect for most asian women. The shade I got is NB21.

Here's a photo of myself wearing both products, un-retouched for 5 hours.

You can see a bit of oiliness coming through (and sweat) but so far it's holding up pretty well 5 hours after application.

My take on these Products . . .

They're cheap and work quite well. It can get heavy and cakey so remember apply just a suitable amount for your entire face. I have no issues with the color since it blends pretty well with my skintone and I didn't experience any breakouts with either of the products. The only part that troubled me is the packaging, it's messy and very inconvenient, you also tend to get more product than you need because of its runny consistency.

Would I recommend it?

Primer: I'm not a huge fan of concealers, it's something I don't use unless I have to cover up a huge blemish. I would recommend this for people who have cover up any redness on their face.

Foundation: Yes, this is great for people with yellow undertones. Not a Holy Grail material but worth the try.

Cost Per Use:

I believe I purchased both on sale at the price of 425PHP each (Approx. $11USD)

My tubes lasted 6 months with at least 4 times a week of usage.

12(times used in a month) x 6 (number of months) = 72 Applications.

425PHP / 72 Applications =  5.90PHP per use.

Holika Holika: Pore Magic Cover Mousse Starter SPF 30 PA++

I cannot be seen without a primer, strawberries are my favorite and if I had to choose one skincare product to use for the rest of my life, Holika Holika is a winner by default. Match made in heaven? We'll see.

Oooops! Too much!

The Holika Holika Pore Magic Cover Mousse Starter SPF 30 PA++ comes in a 100ml aerosol mousse can. As of the moment it is unavailable locally and sold at websites for a little over ₱800.

The mousse is pink with a strawberry scent. The packaging is a bit hard to work with, squeezing out the exact amount of product needed is hard. And once you've got your product out, some mousse will start bubbling over. Neat freaks will totally flip out. :D

My take on this product . . .
I feel bad saying this but the mousse was just terrible. It was hard to blend and the packaging was messy, but the worst part was it made my skin itch upon contact! But hey, why not give it a chance? The itch subsided soon enough but after 2 hours . . . My face looked like an oil spill site. It was horrendous.

Yet, being the HH fanatic that I was, I gave it a couple more chances, but I still got the same results, same itch, same oily face in just 2-3 hours.

*I did check the exp/mfg date and it wasn't expired at all.

Would I recommend it?
With my experience, not at all.

Would I re-purchase?
No.

Majolica Majorca: Skin Lingerie Pore Refiner

I'll start off by describing my skin type, I have oily skin with ginormous pores, fair complexion with average to little skin complications (i.e. acne)

I could never achieve an all day flawless finish -  even with re-touches - before I started using primers. Today, it is a makeup staple which I use no matter how natural or heavy is my makeup.

The Skin Lingerie Pore Refiner comes in one size, a 25g tube with a pretty nifty opening which regulates the amount of product very well. Available locally at select Watson's stores at a retail price of ₱695.

VOILA!
If you're wondering where the blemish on the before pics went, this was shot on a different day. :D

Taken 5 hours after application with no touch-ups, using a Canon 1100D with flash. You can still see some of my pores up-close, but otherwise the finish is just amazing.

My take on this product . . .
Amazing. Anything that makes my skin flawless is a winner in my book. It has good staying power, covers up pores and a little goes a long way. It is also spf 20+ which can be good for outdoor use, but not so much when used for flash photography. It also causes some 'graycasting' which can easily be covered up by foundation.

Would I recommend it?
Yes.

Would I re-purchase?
YES! This is definitely a staple!

Cost per Use:

I use this (almost) on a daily basis, 1 tube lasted for a little over 3 MONTHS!

695 (price) / 90 (days in 3 months)

= 7.72 per use!

Great quality at such an affordable price. Totally worth it! :D
